Music and Me
Hello everyone, my name is Zackery Carver. I was born and raised in Anderson, SC, where I attended T.L. Hanna High School. I am an older brother of two little sisters and I have one older sister. I played cello from when I was in 5th grade all the way until my 11th grade year in high school. I have played sports for basically all my life. I bowled competitively for 6-7 years when I was younger, and this was because of my parents and what good things bowling had done for them. I played baseball from 1st grade through 9th grade and it was the sport I could never get tired of. I wrestled from 7th through 9th grade. But after playing and doing all kinds of sports with different skillsets, I chose to run over the rest of them. I have been into running since elementary school. I participated in running club and from there joined the high school cross country and track team in 7th grade and continued with running throughout high school and now into college.
1. Current go-to music
Over the years there have been various kinds of music that I have listened to with various mixes and playlists but right now, my go-to music is probably on the lines of Hip-Hop and Rap. But a go-to song that I will listen to at any point though is Clock by Coldplay. One thing that draws me back to this song is the piano parts throughout the song and it's part in the movie, "The Wild."
One other song that I could listen to at any point is Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I found out about this song from a high school track teammate and before races, we would get someone's speaker and play the song out loud. By the end of the season, everyone that ran with us knew most if not all of the song.
2. Music that is personally meaningful
Over the years, there have been many songs that have meant something to me but there is only one song that will always have a special place to me is The Other Side by Colton Dixon. I learned about this song in late 2016 when I lost my brother. This song always reminds me of him when I hear it because it reminds me of the times I get to spend with him, and it reminds me that he is always with me.
Another song that is meaningful to me is Rescue by Lauren Daigle. This song in particular is one piece that helps for when I just need time to recollect myself. It allows for me to know that I'm never truly alone because I have friends, family, and The Lord with me at any point.
3. Music I don't connect with
Although I might get some hate for this, the one genre of music I can not really get into is Country Music. I can't really get into the genre all that well because there's not a lot to keep me as interested. But there are some songs that I do like but I can not bring myself to listen to this genre normally besides the few songs that I do like.
This one of the few country songs that I do like: Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker
I love Rescue by Lauren Daigle. She has been one of my favorite artists for so long, and reading this made me realize i haven't listened to her in quite a while, so thank you. I also listen to her when i need to reconnect and gather myself and that the Lord is always with me.
ReplyDeleteProps to you for being a XC running because I sure couldn't do it! I have not heard or listened to Lauren Diagle "Rescue" but after listening to it, it is very heart touched with such powerful lyrics that soothe the soul. Me personally country music is one of my go-to being from the south and also hanging around a bunch of friends that also enjoy country but I have met some people who do not enjoy it as much and that is completely okay! Just like any genre of music, not everyone will like it but i will admit Wagon Wheel is a great song.
ReplyDeleteI used to listen a lot to Coldplay in the past. Mostly because of my mother, it is one of her favorite bands, so growing up I would listen a lot to it because of her! It brings back a lot of good memories and they still produce a lot of good music to this day. Personally, I am a bigger fan of their past music, their modern music is still good, but it'll always be their older songs for me.
ReplyDeleteI it seems like we have somethings in common despite being teammates I wrestled as well in highschool and always had the one song the made me feel prepared to step on the mat I listened to you song that remind you of your brother and it makes me think about my older cousin that passed away he was like a big brother to me
ReplyDeleteI can relate to you on the song “Rescue” by Lauren Daigle. Lauren is not only talented but the lyrics and meaning of her songs carry so much truth, peace, and lightness. I love the Lord and I love how much I can feel His presence when listening to her songs. It brings me joy to know that this song reminds you that you’re not alone because God is with you and for you!
