Music and Gender

There are lots of genres of music that people will listen to. For example, people listen to country, pop, classical, jazz, rock, and many more. One genre that is very popular today, especially younger people in general (16-24 years old), is Rap or Hip-Hop.  According to a study in 2021, Rap/Hip Hop was the 6th most popular music genre. In that same year, 2021, over ninety-million (93.3) people listened to Hip Hop which translated to about 27.7%.  In 2021, Out of the entire Rap/Hip Hop industry, only 2.8% of producers were female. On the lines of songs that were produced, 95% of the rap/hip hop singers were male. When the top 20 rappers in 2021 based on billboard charts came out, only 2 of the 20 rappers were female, and Drake was on top followed by Pop Smoke and Lil Baby. A podcast was released in 2019 where they talked about the top fifty rappers of all time. Music and Rituals

    Over the years of my life, I have been to different kinds of events like funerals, weddings, graduations, and many others. One thing about all of these events is they had different kinds of music. The graduations had more upbeat and happy music as a day of celebration, each funeral I've been to has had music that was more sad and slow beat, and the weddings have had a mix of both slow and upbeat music depending on the point it was at in the ceremony.      My freshman year of high school, I played in the school's orchestra where I played the cello. That year, they took the band and orchestra to graduation and from there, we played different songs as the ceremony continued. I knew that one of the songs would be long only because we had to wait on all of the seniors to walk to their seats, so we had to repeat the same few lines at least 4 times which started to make my arm sore after a while.
